Atlanta Youth Ministers Fellowship Luncheons

On Wednesday during the school year urban youth ministers in Atlanta are invited to gather for a sponsored lunch and fellowship at different Atlanta restaurants.

Central DeKalb Mission

Through AYP's Central DeKalb Mission, Chris Skinner engages volunteers to share Christ with his group of middle school and high school young men in the Decatur area through the Boys to Men program.  The group's key Scripture comes from Psalm 119:9 "How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to your word.”   A weekly Bible Study at the local middle school also brings the light of the gospel to as many as sixty-five students who attend on any given week.  In the meantime and in between time, there are unplanned, but very fruitful opportunities to minister to teenagers at the mission's basketball court, riding bicycles, or relaxing at Skip's, the local hot dog spot.

Techwood Girls
Karen's career with AYP began as a summer camp counselor in 1995. Now Karen runs a year round outreach and discipleship ministry for teenage girls that consists of summer camp, weekly Bible studies, spiritual retreats, teaching life skills, overnight camping, assistance with special needs, and mentoring individual girls. Karen and her partners in ministry seek to build long-term loving relationships in order to demonstrate God's heart of compassion and impact lives for Christ for eternity, while also inspiring hope with practical guidance for a positive future.

Uplift Ministry

Kenny has been involved in inner-city missions for over 20 years as a part-time volunteer and since 1995 as a full-time faith missionary in partnership with the Atlanta Youth Project and the North American Mission Board.  Kenny ministers to urban boys ages 11-18, who live under the poverty line.  In 2008 Kenny started Uplift Ministry with the goal of lifting up Jesus by evangelizing, equipping and empowering Atlanta’s urban youth.  Uplift Ministry uses an 8 week summer camp, flag football, basketball, community ministry projects, after school programs, and an urban youth leadership development program to share Christ and to make disciples for His glory.
